History

On March 28, 1992 Founder, CEO and President Linda Smith obtained a business license and registered Four-D Success Academy. On August 3, 1992 Four-D Success Academy moved into its first campus in Claremont,CA.  In September the school obtained approval from the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education to begin offering its first career-training program.

The Certified Nurse Aide Training program started in September 1992 with two students in the 1,000 square foot suite in Claremont. Linda Smith functioned as the teacher, receptionist and marketer. “During the first six months I developed the Home Health Aide program, obtained clinical sites, marketed and advertised the school, and wrote proposals to city and county agencies to obtain JTPA funding,” said Smith.

She hired a receptionist during the second month of opening and hired a registered nurse in the fourth month to assist with teaching the morning and afternoon classes. “By the end of the first year I had three employees,” said Smith. Between 1993 and 1994 the school established training sites in San Bernardino at the Public Enterprise Center and in the City of Riverside in a 400 square foot classroom.

In 1995 Four-D Success Academy had a staff of seven and the school had outgrown the 1,000 square foot space in Claremont. The main campus relocated to 952 South Mt. Vernon Colton in a 5,000 square foot space. The Colton campus provided expansion for classrooms, lounges, library, and offices for faculty, accounting, financial aid, and administration.

In addition, the Medical Billing & Claims Examiner program was added. The 400 square foot classroom located in Riverside relocated into a 2,500 square foot suite in Riverside. The new suite included, two classrooms, student lounge, skills lab, and office space and receptionist area.

In 1996 the Vocational Nurse Program was approved and Four-D Success Academy became accredited through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). There were 13 students in the first Vocational Nurse program.

In 1997 the school was approved by the Federal Student Financial Aid Program. The school developed and received approval to offer the Pharmacy Technician program and the campus expanded an additional 3,000 square feet to accommodate the growing student population and the 35 employees of the school.

In June of 2000 the Riverside site and its 8,000 square foot leased space were relocated to 1020 E. Washington in Colton, CA. The new location consisted of a 31,000 square foot two story building that was purchased for $1.5 million dollars. The student enrollment was about 85 students when we relocated.

Three tenants occupied 3,500 square foot of the building: Friends of Four-D College, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) that operated a childcare center, community services and youth training. The other tenants were All State Insurance and a psychologist in private practice. The school acquired the doctor’s office space in 2001 to accommodate growth.

In June 2002 Four-D Success Academy was renamed Four-D College.

The campus encompasses a receptionist area, lobby, testing room, human resources, registrar office, accounting offices, financial aid offices, student services, student store, library, administrative offices, eight classrooms, medical assistant lab, dental assistant lab, pharmacy technician lab, 30 station computer lab, faculty and student lounges.

In 2006, to serve the High Desert community, Four-D College purchased two buildings in the City of Victorville. The 5,700 square foot two story administrative building consists of administration offices, registrar/records, admission, financial aid, accounting, career development and faculty lounge.

The adjacent 15,000 square foot single story building consists of seven classrooms, pharmacy lab, nursing skills lab, medical assistant skills lab, 40-station computer lab, library, staff offices, student lounge, receptionist area and lobby.

In 2007 an additional 8,000 square foot was leased in the twin building on the adjoining lot at the Colton campus to accommodate the growing student population of 350 students. The additional space included three classrooms, the massage therapy lab, the 11-bed nursing skills lab, the 40-station computer lab and additional faculty office. In addition, in 2007 the All State Insurance space was acquired to accommodate continued growth.

In 2008 the Victorville campus expanded to lease three suites to accommodate two classrooms and a student lounge for the growing vocational nurse program. In 2009 further expansion was needed to support the rapidly growing student population of 400 plus. The additional 7,000 square foot leased space supported the Massage Therapy program and lab, the relocation of the Career Development department, relocation of the growing Pharmacy Technician program, growth of the Medical Billing program and the newly formed and rapidly growing GED program.
