Vocational Nurse
The Licensed Vocational Nurse or LVN is a caregiver in hospitals, busy acute care facilities, convalescent facilities, community healthcare agencies, home healthcare agencies, and specialty areas such as physician offices and emergency clinics. The LVN performs basic therapeutic and preventive nursing procedures in many healthcare delivery settings. This includes bedside nursing, dispensing medications, assuming the role of team leading and supervision, or assisting the physician with treatments.
The program:
Prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), which is the examination to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. These subjects include basic and advanced principles and techniques of vocational nursing.
- Pass an entrance exam
- High school diploma or GED required
- Free GED program available to all students
Location:
Classes are held at the Colton and Victorville campuses. Clinical rotations are held in selected hospitals and agencies in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties according to subjects being studied.
Accreditation/Approval:
- Accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- Approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education
- Accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians
Course length:
12 months for full-time students and 18 months for part-time students. The program consists of both classroom lecture and clinical instruction in actual nursing situations. Theory and Clinical subjects are divided into 4 modules.
