Career Counseling
Career counseling is a free service available to students and alumni in the Career Development Department.
Our counselor can assist you at every step of your career development and job search process.
You can expect support and assistance with/all of the following:


::Career Assessments::
Career assessments are very important and can help you:

  1. Identify your interest and match them with your strengths.
  2. Identify your values, specifically what’s important to you.
  3. Select and identify fitting occupations, based in your interest and values.

Your personality, skills, values and interest play an important role in your career of choice. Your career assessment will take place in a face-to-face meeting with the Admission Representative.

 

::Job Search Strategies::
We highlight job search strategies to assist in the recruitment:

  1. Create Employment letter
  2. Resume Writing, Cover Letter & Thank you letter
  3. Interviewing Skills
  4. Career Assessment
  5. Post – Interview Etiquette & Follow-up.

A goal of a job search is to at take the initiative to make direct contact with potential employers. The more initiative you have, the greater your chances for success. Successful job seekers are proactive in their approach.

Planning and organizing and critical to job search success. With your final job search strategies an initial occupational choice is made. You conduct a job search, edit/refine resumes and cover letter, gather letters of recommendation, mock interviews and or apply to open positions.

Preparation is the first essential step towards a successful interview.
Attention is more likely to make you stand out from other applicants and maximize your chances of getting the job.

Success Steps:

  1. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the interview location.
  2. On the day of the interview, allow extra time for preparing and arriving at the interview site.
  3. Prepare your briefcase with necessary items ahead of time.
  4. Make sure that you freshen up if necessary before the interview.
  5. Enter the interview site with a calm & organized demeanor.
