Medical Assistant Disclosure:

Medical Assistants are trained to perform the following duties: take medical histories and record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare patients for examination. Medical Assistants prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, sterilize medical instruments and sterilize office exam rooms for surgery. They instruct patients and their families on treatments, medication and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, answer telephones, telephone prescriptions into pharmacies, draw blood, prepare patients for radiography tests, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures and change dressings, perform first aid, maintain equipment, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admissions and surgeries, handle billing and bookkeeping, handle correspondence and lab forms and the list continues.
